Meal delivery kits- is it worth it?

Hi friends! The best meal kit for you depends on what you are looking for. I tried what I believe are the top 3 meal delivery kits out there, and reviewed them based on budget, ease, and taste. So, keep reading!

First, I wanted to find a kit that fit into my grocery budget so that i wasn't spending more. All three kits had very easy ordering process, an app, and had amazing customer service! That being said, Home Chef caught my eye first because most instagram influencers are giving a code for $100 off and that helped the meals become much more affordable. Home Chef also has pre-measured ingredients that come ready to put in the oven/ on the grill/ or throw on the stove. This was a big plus for me. The meals came with the ingredients bagged together for each meal, except the meats which were separately packaged. It made organizing it in my fridge really easy, and aesthetically pleasing. When choosing the meals, the options ranged from classic dishes to more exotic dishes, so you had a good amount of options but still have a super tasty meal. The oven ready meals were my personal favorite. They also sent a binder and hole punched recipe cards to keep together so you can make the meals in the future! However, in the end the coupon ran out and the price became must less affordable. For two people/two meals a week it was about $40 with the coupon, but was about $60 without. Personally I didn't feel it was worth the price.

Next, I found another kit that influencers recommend; Hello fresh, which also had a coupon code. This kit had really delicious meal options, but I was skeptical at first. They seemed very....risky for a family with a sometimes picky eater. However, we (including my picky eater) loved every meal! It was easy to read and follow the recipes, but I REALLY missed the pre- measured ingredients from home chef! The ingredients came packaged similar to home chef, but not quite as cute, but that really wasn't important to me. Overall Hello fresh was good, but harder to make each night after work, and it has the same price as home chef with and without the coupon. So, this one also wasn't worth it to continue after the coupon expired.

Lastly, after trying the top two meal delivery kits I had pretty much determined that there was no way that meal delivery could be affordable. I researched Blue Apron, Freshly, Dinnerly, and they were all priced the same, and meals seemed similar as well. Then I found....EVERYPLATE. This meal delivery kit is only $39.00 for two people/ three meals per week. That, my friends, is a STEAL. So, I ordered immediately after finding this, and was sure that the meals had to be terrible for that price but the meals are sooo good, just slightly simpler (which I like)! They are not pre-measured so they aren't as easy as home chef. However, with the price, I'm okay with just getting the ease of all the ingredients being together.

Overall, if you are looking for the triple threat, affordability, ease, and taste every plate is going to be your new best friend. If you are going for ease, you will for sure fall in love with home chef. If you are going for taste, Hello Fresh will blow your taste buds away! It just depends on what you want!
